SoE3 progress

I just finished the raw version of SoE3. The next step is to let the story rest for a while and then to start tweaking it for a smoother and better final version of the plot and to make sure it’s as consistent as possible with the previous books.

What can you expect from the third book? Well, it definitely has more Riestel in it. It also shows more of Rime’s affliction and what can be done to manage it. Isa is finally starting to take a more active role in controlling what happens around her and how she can influence things and dig a little deeper about people around her. Isa also works with Riestel in order to recover his daughter, or what’s left of her, and to learn how to create things in the lighter world and move around in it as she knows she will have to face her old self at some point. They keep dancing on this line of bitching at each other and being friends and having deeper feelings for each other. At the same time, Isa’s and Rime’s relationship is being tested with Rime having to spend a lot of time focusing on city issues and with his unstable condition making it hard for them to have time alone.

We'll get to see more of Frazil's family and whether he seems to be the kind of ruler he wants to be or promised to be. A new humanoid race, the arochs, which have been mentioned as a footnote in previous books, make an appearance as they have a bigger role to play in SoE4.

Music for writing

I couldn't imagine writing without music. It helps to surround me with a barrier to keep our world and its mundane worries out and to transport me to other worlds. I rarely listen to purely instrumental music, but writing sessions are the exception (not always). I like music from all sorts of genres and from all over the world but not many of my favorite bands or singers make it to my writing music lists. Normally, depending on my mood, I listen to things like Tom Waits, StrayKids, DPR Ian, Dimash, Moloko, Blondie, Sister's of Mercy, Nick Cave (and most rock 'n roll songs from the 60's, rock songs from the 70's, metal from the 80's and 90's, and many of the poppier song from that era too, oh, and musicals and classical music and Bollywood songs.
